Liga 1 Indonesia side Persebaya Surabaya are being linked with a move for Jovan Cadjenovic, a tough and experienced midfielder who made a strong impression at Ħamrun Spartans after joining in January.
Despite being at the club for just half a season, Cadjenovic played an important role in helping Ħamrun Spartans win the 360Sports Malta Premier League. The 30-year-old Montenegrin is known for his physical style of play, leadership qualities, and tactical awareness.
He has previously represented the Montenegro national team and played in both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, making him one of the more experienced players in the Maltese top flight. According to Indonesian football account @gossindo, Cadjenovic is seen by Persebaya as a strong candidate to reinforce their midfield after the club missed out on Equatorial Guinean midfielder Pablo Ganet.
However, Cadjenovic’s contract with Ħamrun Spartans expires at the end of this month, and it is now up to the club to decide whether to offer him a new deal, or allow him to leave on a free transfer. If released, he could be a major signing for Persebaya and has the potential to become a new fan favourite among the Bonek supporters.
