Hibernians to strengthen squad with three foreign signings

Hibernians are set to bolster their squad ahead of the new Malta Premier season with the addition of three foreign players as the Paolites continue to reshape their team for the upcoming campaign.

The new arrivals are Brazilian attacker Ryder Matos Santos Pinto, German left-back Moritz Römling and Ivorian defender Yao Olivier Juslin N’Zi, adding experience and depth across the pitch.

Ryder Matos Santos Pinto

The standout signing is Ryder Matos. The 33-year-old Brazilian brings a wealth of experience from some of Europe’s top leagues after beginning his professional career with Fiorentina. During his career, Matos has represented clubs including Udinese, Hellas Verona, Carpi, Empoli, Perugia, Ascoli and most recently Trapani. Capable of playing as a winger or centre-forward, he has featured in Serie A, Serie B, the Spanish top flight and the Swiss Super League, while also representing Brazil at Under-20 level. Standing 1.83 metres tall, Matos is expected to add pace, creativity and experience to Hibernians’ attack.

Moritz Römling

The second addition is 25-year-old German full-back Moritz Römling. A product of the VfL Bochum academy, Römling has gained senior experience with Wuppertaler SV, Türkgücü München, Rot-Weiss Essen, Austrian side Kapfenberger SV and Slovak club Tatran Prešov. The naturally left-footed defender, who stands 1.87 metres tall, can operate both as a left-back and as a wing-back. He also represented Germany at Under-18 level earlier in his career.

Yao Olivier Juslin N’Zi

Completing the trio is Yao Olivier Juslin N’Zi, a 25-year-old Ivorian defender who arrives from Austrian football after his spell with Kapfenberger SV. Standing 1.93 metres tall, N’Zi is a commanding left-footed centre-back who is also comfortable playing at left-back. Known for his physical presence and aerial ability, he is expected to strengthen Hibernians’ defensive options heading into the new season.

The three additions underline Hibernians’ ambition to build a squad capable of challenging at the top end of the Malta Premier League.
