Hibernians FC have announced the signing of experienced forward Joy-Slayd Mickels, adding further attacking quality and international experience to their squad.
The 32-year-old centre-forward arrives with a varied European background and has represented the Rwanda national team, having made his international debut in 2026. Transfermarkt lists Mickels with two Rwanda caps.
Mickels spent the 2025-26 season in Azerbaijan’s top flight with Karvan Yevlax, making 17 league appearances and scoring four goals, according to Global Sports Archive.
The German-born striker began his development with Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he came through the club’s youth system before featuring for the club’s second team.
His career has also taken him to Switzerland, where he played for FC Aarau, and Norway, where he represented Strømmen IF.
Mickels can operate as a centre-forward as well as on either flank, giving Hibernians additional options in attack.
The move to Malta represents another chapter in a career that has taken the Rwanda international across several European leagues.
