Gżira United have secured the services of goalkeeper Edoardo Colombo for another season after the San Marino international impressed during his first campaign with the Maroons.
The 25-year-old established himself as Gżira’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper during the 2025/26 season, making 30 appearances across all competitions. Colombo conceded 38 goals while keeping 10 clean sheets, playing a key role as the Maroons reached the final of the FA Trophy.
Colombo also remains San Marino’s number one goalkeeper, having earned 23 senior international caps since making his debut in March 2024.
Born in Ravenna, Italy, Colombo came through the youth ranks at Cesena before joining Juventus’ academy in 2017. During his time with the Bianconeri, he gained valuable experience with the club’s youth setup and spent loan spells at Carpi and Torres to continue his development.
After leaving Juventus in 2021, the goalkeeper built his career in the Italian lower divisions, representing Fermana, Arezzo, Cavese, Rimini and Forlì. His consistent performances earned him recognition with the San Marino national team, where he has become the country’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Colombo joined Gżira United from Forlì ahead of the 2025/26 season and quickly became one of the club’s standout performers. His commanding displays, shot-stopping ability and consistency between the posts made him one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the Maltese top flight.
The contract extension ensures Gżira United retain one of their most influential players as they continue building their squad ahead of the new season.
