Sliema Wanderers will face Hamrun Spartans in the final of the Pre-Season Summer Cup on Saturday, after defeating Floriana 5-4 in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw at the end of the ninety minutes in the second semi-final on Wednesday at the Centenary Stadium.
On the 14th minute, Murilo Henrique gave Sliema the lead, but fifteen minutes before the end of the match, substitute Franklin Sasere made his debut for the Greens and equalized.
During the penalty shootout, Murilo Henrique successfully converted the first penalty for Sliema, while Thiaguinho Santos missed high for the Greens. Steven Pisani scored for Sliema, and Kemar Reid did the same for Floriana. Neil Frendo scored, and Jake Grech replied for Floriana. Samuel Gomes’ penalty was saved by Andrijanic, and Fernandinho scored to equalize for Floriana. Adam Magri Overend restored the lead for Sliema, but Franklin Sasere equalized again. Stanley Ohawuchi scored for Sliema, and Dunstan Vella hit the crossbar.
