Birkirkara F.C. have officially announced the resignation of Club President Michael Valenzia with immediate effect, bringing to an end his five-year tenure leading the Stripes.
The club confirmed that Valenzia’s resignation will now allow Birkirkara to move forward with the process of electing a new president.
Valenzia was appointed club president in May 2021 and oversaw an important period in the club’s recent history, during which Birkirkara lifted the FA Trophy in 2023, reached a further three major finals and consistently secured the UEFA licence in every season under his leadership.

In an emotional farewell message addressed directly to supporters, Valenzia described serving Birkirkara as “one of the proudest experiences” of his life and insisted that throughout his presidency he always placed the club “above everything else”.

Reflecting on his time in charge, Valenzia highlighted the 2023 FA Trophy triumph as one of his proudest moments, while also expressing satisfaction over the work carried out behind the scenes to strengthen the club structurally and ensure long-term stability according to UEFA standards.

The outgoing president also admitted that, after listening carefully to supporters in recent months, he understood that many fans wished to see change at the club.
“This is your club, your badge and your future,” Valenzia stated in his farewell letter.
He went on to thank the supporters for their loyalty and passion throughout his presidency, while also recognising the people who stood beside him and helped him run the club during his five-year spell.
Birkirkara, on their part, thanked Valenzia for his commitment, dedication and service throughout his tenure and wished him well for the future.
