The Malta Football Association informs that following an investigation by the Executive Police and after charges were issued against Jurgen Pisani concerning the match Sta Lucia FC vs Birkirkara FC which took place on 3rd May 2024 as part of the Premier League 2023/24 season, the Malta FA has requested that proceedings be initiated before the Control, Disciplinary and Ethics Committee – Integrity Board against both Jurgen Pisani and Sta Lucia FC, since the player was registered with Sta Lucia FC during the period relevant to the case.
In view of the nature of the charges in question under Section IX of the Malta FA Regulations – Regulations on Bribery and Betting Regarding Football Matches, the Malta FA has temporarily suspended Jurgen Pisani, pending the outcome of the final decision in the internal proceedings.
This position is being taken in accordance with the Malta FA Regulations (Section IX) – Regulations for the Investigation of Allegations and for Adjudging upon Charges related to Bribery in Football and Illicit Betting related to Football Matches under the Jurisdiction of the Association.
The Malta Football Association advises that no further comments will be made at this stage as the case is sub judice.
