Hibernians have confirmed the return of goalkeeper Pablo Niño Sánchez, with the Spaniard rejoining the Paolites after previously playing an important role in one of the club’s recent trophy-winning squads.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper is no stranger to Maltese football, having enjoyed spells with both Ħamrun Spartans and Hibernians. During his previous stint with the Paolites, he was part of the squad that lifted the 2024-25 FA Trophy and the 2026 Maltese Super Cup.
Born in London to Spanish parents before developing through the youth ranks in Italy, Sánchez began his senior career with Italian side Giana Erminio, where he accumulated valuable experience before moving to Malta. Known for his commanding presence, excellent reflexes and composure in possession, he has established himself as a reliable goalkeeper in the Malta Premier.
His return provides Hibernians with both quality and continuity ahead of the new campaign. Having already worked within the club’s environment, Sánchez is expected to settle quickly and offer leadership to the defensive unit.
The move also highlights Hibernians’ desire to blend familiarity with experience as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming Malta Premier League season.
Welcoming Sánchez back, Hibernians described him as a “key member of our trophy-winning side”, underlining the impact he made during his previous spell at the club.
The goalkeeper now returns to Paola aiming to add further silverware to an already successful relationship with the club as Hibernians look to challenge domestically.
