Ħamrun Spartans F.C. are understood to be closely monitoring Vitinho after the Brazilian forward emerged as one of the standout performers in the YoHealth Malta Premier League despite Naxxar Lions F.C. suffering relegation.
Vitinho impressed throughout the second half of the campaign with a series of important goals and influential displays that helped Naxxar recover from a very poor start to the season and become far more competitive during the closing stages of the league.
Although the Lions ultimately failed to avoid relegation, the Brazilian attacker’s performances did not go unnoticed, with Ħamrun Spartans now believed to be preparing an approach ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Spartans are expected to undergo significant changes following a disappointing campaign in which they finished the season without winning any major honours. Internally, there is an acknowledgement that several foreign signings failed to deliver the expected impact, leading the club to reassess its recruitment strategy for next season.
Alongside targeting leading Maltese talent, Ħamrun are also focusing on foreign players who have already adapted to Maltese football and proven themselves within the YoHealth Malta Premier. Vitinho is considered one of the profiles that perfectly fit those requirements.
Sources indicate that Ħamrun Spartans are expected to make an offer to Naxxar Lions in the coming days as discussions surrounding the Brazilian forward begin to intensify.
Meanwhile, former Naxxar Lions goalkeeper Matthias Debono is also expected to return to Ħamrun Spartans following the conclusion of his loan spell with the Lions.
Debono is anticipated to serve as backup goalkeeper to Malta international Henry Bonello as the Spartans continue rebuilding their squad ahead of the new season.
