Former Ħamrun Spartans midfielder Merlin Hadzi has officially completed a move to Croatian side NK Rudeš, with the transfer now confirmed as a done deal.
Hadzi, who recently departed the Maltese champions, has agreed terms with the Zagreb-based club as he embarks on a new chapter in his career abroad, marking a significant step forward following his spell in Maltese and European football.
During his time with Ħamrun Spartans, Hadzi established himself as a reliable and energetic presence in midfield, contributing both domestically and on the continental stage. His work rate, technical ability, and versatility made him a valuable squad option across league, cup, and European competitions.
Hadzi also featured in Ħamrun Spartans’ UEFA Conference League campaign, gaining important European exposure. He was involved in the club’s play off tie against FK RFS, making an appearance in the first leg as Ħamrun secured a crucial 1–0 home victory, a result that kept alive Malta’s hopes of progressing further in UEFA competition.
The midfielder also took part in the Conference League league phase match against Lausanne Sports, starting the game before being substituted in the second half during a narrow defeat at Ta’ Qali.
In total, Hadzi registered multiple UEFA Conference League appearances, adding continental experience to his profile before sealing his move to Croatia.
Hadzi’s transfer to NK Rudeš offers him the opportunity to test himself in a competitive European league and continue his development at a higher level. The Croatian club, known for integrating emerging talent, are expected to benefit from his tactical awareness, mobility, and ability to contribute both defensively and in attack.
