Victoria Hotspurs clinched a last-gasp victory over Sta. Venera Lightnings in their opening match of the IZIBET Amateur League 2 at Sirens Stadium on Sunday.
Emmanuel Mbong gave the Hotspurs the lead in the 22nd minute, but Warren Zerafa levelled the score with a penalty just four minutes later. Shaun Attard then secured the win with a goal three minutes into stoppage time.
Mqabba had an easy triumph over Ta’ Xbiex, winning 4-0 at Luxol Stadium. Andres Tenorio opened the scoring in the 6th minute, and Dylan Zarb made it 2-0 by the 31st minute. Tenorio added another goal just before half-time, and Ishmael Galea sealed the 4-0 victory with a goal in the 90th minute.
At Charles Abela Stadium, Mdina Knights and Dingli Swallows settled for a point each in a 1-1 draw. Ronaldinho Nathaniel Daley put the Swallows in front in the 29th minute, but Claydie Micallef equalised eleven minutes before the end.
Ghaxaq and Siggiewi played out a goalless draw at Sirens Stadium, sharing the points.
