Emilio De Leo has announced a provisional 34 man squad for Malta’s upcoming international friendly matches against Slovakia national football team and Azerbaijan national football team in June.
Malta national football team will first face Slovakia on 1 June at the DAC Aréna, before taking on Azerbaijan on 5 June at the Haladás Sportkomplexum.
The two matches will form part of Malta’s preparations for the upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign and provide De Leo with another opportunity to assess his squad.
Several players have received their first senior national team call up following strong performances at club level this season. Among them are Luke Borg of Tarxien Rainbows F.C. and Nicholas Agius of Żabbar St. Patrick F.C..
Defender Kevin Cannavò, currently playing in Italy with Cosenza Calcio, has also been included as the national team staff continue monitoring Maltese players competing abroad.
The provisional squad also includes the return of players such as Jake Vassallo, Kean Scicluna and Matías García.
Malta will however be without experienced wing back Ryan Camenzuli, who remains unavailable through injury.
