Birkirkara FC have confirmed that former politician Chris Cardona has been elected President of the Club with immediate effect following the Extraordinary General Meeting held yesterday.
During the EGM members approved the motion of no confidence in the previous Committee. This motion came as a surprise since it was a motion of no confidence also addressed towards Gordon Spiteri who will most probably be Cardona’s right hand man in the new committee.
In fact the Club said that together with Vice Presidents Mr. Gordon Spiteri and Mr. Michael Spiteri, Dr. Cardona will in the coming days present a proposed Committee structure for the formal approval of Club members, in line with the provisions of the Club Statute. Further information regarding the process, timeline, and the manner in which members may submit their interest to serve on the Committee will be communicated officially shortly.
The Club said that the Annual General Meeting will be convened and communicated to all members in accordance with the timelines established by the Club Statute, with a formal notice to be issued in due course.
Dr. Cardona and the incoming leadership team have already begun work on the Club’s immediate priorities, with additional announcements expected over the coming days.
