Tarxien Rainbows took a significant step toward promotion after securing a convincing 4-1 win against Marsa. Claudio Henrique Da Silva Barbosa opened the scoring after just nine minutes, before Dacosta Boadu doubled the lead around the half-hour mark. In the second half, Zackary Brincat added two more goals in the 74th and 82nd minutes to seal the result. Marsa’s only response came from the penalty spot in the 61st minute, but they ended the match with ten men following Irvin Abela’s red card in the 44th minute.
Meanwhile, Senglea Athletic’s hopes of avoiding relegation took a major hit as they were held to a 1-1 draw by fellow strugglers Lija Athletic. Erjon Beu gave Lija the lead with a well-taken free-kick just ten minutes into the match, scoring his seventh goal of the season. Senglea equalised in the 27th minute through George Tetteh Attram. Both teams finished the match with ten players after Tyron Fenech and Sheldon Briffa were sent off in the closing stages.
Valletta continued their dominant campaign with a 3-0 victory over Sta Lucia. Andrea Zammit put the champions ahead after 14 minutes, with James Scicluna and Jake Azzopardi adding second-half goals to complete a comfortable win.
Fgura United produced a commanding display to defeat Sirens 5-1. Alan Abdel Rahman scored a brace within the opening six minutes, including a penalty, while Gilberto Martins Leite Carrara pulled one back for Sirens in the 17th minute. Innocent John Awori extended Fgura’s lead just before the break, with Andrew Xuereb and Dylan Caruana rounding off the scoring in the second half.
In another key fixture, Żurrieq strengthened their league position with a 2-0 victory over Mġarr United. Xylon Portelli struck first in the 27th minute, before league top scorer Sulahmana Mamadu Bah sealed the win right before half-time.
St Andrews recorded a statement win over Żebbuġ Rangers with a 5-2 triumph. Nathan Sultana and Mattia Galliano gave St Andrews a two-goal cushion early on, with Galliano adding a second just before half-time. Although Duvan Mosquera Torres scored twice for Żebbuġ, including a late penalty, goals from Aleksa Zivkovic and Timothy Cassar Torreggiani ensured a convincing result for the visitors.
Pietà Hotspurs narrowly defeated Swieqi United 1-0, with Arthur Felippe Stelmach Santana scoring the decisive goal in the 70th minute. The loss effectively ended Swieqi’s hopes of promotion this season.
Mtarfa kept their survival hopes alive with a 3-1 win over Gudja United. Goals from Darren Falzon and Ayrton Azzopardi gave Mtarfa a strong first-half advantage. Although Dale Mifsud pulled one back for Gudja before the break, Joseph Chilaka Agbakwuru’s late goal ensured three vital points for Mtarfa.
As the final matchday approaches, Valletta remain top of the standings with 56 points, followed by Tarxien Rainbows on 38. Swieqi, Pietà, Żurrieq, Santa Lucia, Mġarr, and Marsa round out the top eight. At the other end of the table, Senglea sit bottom with 14 points, just behind Lija Athletic on 16 and Mtarfa on 17. The battle for promotion and survival remains intense heading into the final weekend of the season.
