Swieqi United are continuing to strengthen their squad as the club prepares for another push towards promotion from the Challenge League to the Malta Premier.

After narrowly missing out on promotion last season, Swieqi appear determined to build a squad capable of going one step further in the coming campaign. Malta Sport understands that Aiden Agius, Gianluca Sciberras and goalkeeper Luciano Camilleri are all set to join the club as part of the club’s latest recruitment drive.

Agius arrives from Mosta and gives Swieqi another young Maltese option with room to develop. The 18-year-old has already been involved with Malta at the youth level, and his arrival fits the club’s plan to add promising local talent to a squad expected to compete at the top end of the Challenge League.
Sciberras is another local addition who can strengthen Swieqi’s midfield options. His arrival gives the technical staff more depth and competition in the middle of the pitch, an area that will be key across a long promotion campaign where consistency will matter as much as quality.
Swieqi have also moved to reinforce their goalkeeping department with the addition of Luciano Camilleri. The Maltese goalkeeper adds another option between the posts and gives the club further cover in a position where reliability can make a decisive difference over the course of a season.

The signings show that Swieqi are not simply adding numbers, but building with a clear target in mind. The club came close to promotion last season before losing the decisive play-off against Birżebbuġa St Peter’s on penalties, a defeat that denied them a place in the top flight.
That disappointment now appears to have shaped their approach to the transfer market. Swieqi know that the Challenge League will again be competitive, but their early work suggests a club aiming to be among the main promotion contenders.
For Swieqi United, the target is clear. The club wants to build a stronger, deeper and more balanced squad capable of fighting for a place in the Malta Premier next season.
