Three months after suffering a serious head injury in a freak accident during a Challenge League match, Dylan Caruana has taken a major step forward in his recovery by beginning rehabilitation.
The Fgura United player was involved in a heavy collision with teammate Alan Abdel Rahman during a Challenge League fixture between Fgura United and St Andrew’s earlier this year. Both players required urgent medical attention, but it was Caruana who sustained the more severe injuries, sending shockwaves through the Maltese football community.
In the aftermath of the accident, Caruana spent several months in an induced coma while medical teams worked around the clock to stabilise his condition. Throughout that deeply difficult period, his family, friends, teammates and the wider football community stood firmly behind him in support and prayer.
In recent weeks, however, the news has become increasingly encouraging. Caruana has shown significant signs of improvement and has now officially begun the rehabilitation phase of his recovery, a hugely positive step after months of uncertainty.
The road ahead remains a long and challenging one, but the latest developments have given renewed hope to all those following his progress. Messages of support have continued to pour in from across Maltese football, reflecting the close knit nature of the local sporting community.

Everyone at Malta Sport sends their warmest wishes to Dylan Caruana as he faces this next chapter with tremendous courage and determination. We wish him all the strength he needs throughout his rehabilitation and hope for a full and speedy recovery.
