Żurrieq FC have appointed Brian Spiteri as the new head coach of their senior team ahead of the upcoming season.
Spiteri, a familiar figure in Maltese football, brings extensive managerial experience, having previously led several clubs across the country’s top divisions. His most recent role was at Mgarr United, where he took charge in February 2024. Before that, he managed Żebbuġ Rangers between 2021 and 2023, Pietà Hotspurs from 2019 to 2021, and Pembroke Athleta during the latter half of the 2018–19 season.
Throughout his coaching career, Spiteri has been known for building competitive squads and focusing on tactical discipline. His earlier tenures also include spells at Qormi FC and Lija Athletic, further adding to his experience at various levels of Maltese football.
Spiteri has overseen more than 180 matches in his career, recording a range of results across different club environments. His points-per-game averages have varied, with notable performances at Pembroke Athleta (1.87 PPG) and Mgarr United (1.73 PPG).
Żurrieq FC will be hoping Spiteri’s experience can help stabilise and elevate the squad following recent seasons of restructuring. The new coach will now begin preparations for the 2025–26 campaign as the club looks to make progress both in terms of performance and squad development.
No further details about the contract length or coaching staff have been disclosed at this stage.
