Real Valladolid have dismissed manager Diego Cocca following just eight matches at the helm, as announced by the LaLiga club on Monday. The team is currently at the bottom of the league table after enduring five straight losses. Cocca, who was appointed on December 14 with a contract running until the season’s end, managed to secure only one victory. Consequently, reserve team coach Alvaro Rubio steps in as interim manager for the second time this season. Under Cocca’s leadership, Valladolid suffered six league defeats, including a 4-0 loss to Sevilla at home on Sunday, and were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by third-tier side Ourense CF during the round of 32 last month.

In November, Paulo Pezzolano was relieved of his duties following a 5-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid, having secured only two wins out of 15 league matches this season. Rubio then took charge for three games, winning two, before Cocca was appointed. After being promoted last season under Pezzolano, Valladolid currently sits with 15 points from 24 games, trailing Las Palmas—who are 17th and outside the relegation zone—by eight points. They face an away fixture against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
