Real Madrid pay tribute to Ancelotti in an extensive farewell statment

Real Madrid have officially confirmed the departure of head coach Carlo Ancelotti ahead of their final La Liga fixture of the season, bringing an end to a glittering second spell in charge of the Spanish giants. The 65-year-old Italian will not lead Los Blancos into the upcoming Club World Cup, with tributes planned at the Santiago Bernabéu during Saturday’s match against Real Sociedad.

Ancelotti, whose record with the club includes a staggering 15 trophies, will be honoured by players, fans, and club officials in what promises to be an emotional send-off. The announcement, made through an extensive statement on the club’s official website, detailed the honours amassed across his two tenures, three UEFA Champions League titles, three Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, two La Liga crowns, two Copa del Rey titles and two Spanish Super Cups.

Club president Florentino Pérez paid tribute to Ancelotti, describing him as “an integral part of the Real Madrid family” and praising his exemplary representation of the club’s values.

Shortly after the club’s announcement, Ancelotti took to social media to post a heartfelt farewell video. “Today we part ways once more,” he began. “I carry with me every moment of this extraordinary second chapter at Real Madrid. These have been unforgettable years, full of joy, silverware, and above all, pride in representing this great club.”

He extended thanks to Pérez, the club, his players, and staff, emphasising that the achievements were not only memorable for the triumphs themselves, but for the way they were accomplished. “The magical nights at the Bernabéu are now part of football history,” he added, signing off with the club’s motto: “Hala Madrid y Nada Más.”

In his final press conference, Ancelotti shared the emotional significance of departing alongside Luka Modrić, hailing the Croatian midfielder as “a true legend and an incredible support during my time here”. He added: “Some may say the golden era ends with Modrić, but Real Madrid will always be the greatest club in the world.”

The outgoing manager also gave what amounted to confirmation of his successor, stating: “Xabi Alonso will be the first choice, and I wish him all the best. He has the qualities needed to coach Real Madrid.”

After his farewell at the Bernabéu, Ancelotti is set to begin a new chapter in his storied career, taking charge of the Brazilian national team as they prepare for the next FIFA World Cup. “Joining the most decorated national team in football is an honour. It’s a huge challenge, but I’m excited to prepare for the World Cup with the Seleção,” he concluded.
