Lukébakio rescues point for Sevilla

Sevilla were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Osasuna at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, a result that means the visitors are now unbeaten in their last six meetings with Sevilla.

Osasuna came into this match hoping to get back to winning ways after failing to win their last two La Liga games. However, Sevilla controlled possession early on as they looked to move into the top half of the table. Osasuna had the first shot on target, with Bryan Zaragoza forcing a good save from Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.

Just before the half-hour mark, Sevilla had their best chance when Isaac Romero crossed to Djibril Sow, but the Swiss midfielder missed the target from close range. Sevilla continued to push, and just before half-time, Nemanja Gudelj had another shot blocked by Herrera.

Sevilla started the second half on top, creating another chance from a corner, but Loic Badé’s header was saved by Herrera. However, Osasuna broke the deadlock with 20 minutes left when Ante Budimir headed in Jesús Areso’s cross for his ninth league goal of the season, putting him just behind Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski in the top scorer chart.

Osasuna’s lead lasted only three minutes, though, as Sevilla equalised through Dodi Lukébakio. The Belgian was set up by Saúl Ñíguez and calmly finished past Herrera. Sevilla almost won it in the final moments when Kike Salas missed the target with a header from a Jesús Navas cross.

The draw leaves Sevilla in midtable, six points clear of the relegation zone, while Osasuna remain close to the top six, just one point behind sixth-placed RCD Mallorca.
