Juan Iglesias headed a late winner as Sevilla beat Valencia 1-0 at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán to move third in LaLiga, leaving the visitors bottom and without a win after five matches.
Iglesias settled a largely scrappy contest with a looping header from a free-kick, moments after David Otorbi had struck the woodwork at the other end. The victory ended Sevilla’s six-match winless run against Valencia.
Neither side registered a shot on target in a subdued first half. Sevilla appealed for an early penalty when Iglesias went down inside the area, while Valencia suffered another injury setback as César Tárrega was forced off with a hamstring problem.

The hosts improved after the break. Kike Salas brought a sharp save from Stole Dimitrievski with a downward header before Lucas Stassin headed against the foot of the post from the resulting corner.
Dimitrievski then held a low effort from Youssouf Fofana as Sevilla continued to press, although clear chances remained scarce.
Valencia almost snatched the lead when Otorbi hit the woodwork late on, but Iglesias delivered the decisive moment to secure all three points for the home side.
Sevilla head into the remainder of the weekend’s fixtures in the Champions League places, while Carlos Corberán’s Valencia face mounting pressure after another disappointing result.
