Barcelona table €100m bid to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid

Barcelona are reportedly ready to spend big this summer, with the Spanish giants believed to have submitted a €100m offer to Atletico Madrid for striker Julian Alvarez.

The 26 year old Argentine enjoyed an impressive season at Atletico, contributing 29 goals and assists in 49 appearances, but has made clear his desire to move on despite still having four years left on his contract. Diego Simeone is under no obligation to sell, though it appears the player himself is pushing for the exit.

The move would form part of a remarkable spending spree by Barcelona this summer. The club have already agreed an 80 million euro deal to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, and are also in talks over making Marcus Rashford’s loan from Manchester United permanent. LaLiga’s financial regulations have given manager Hansi Flick room to invest, and it seems he intends to do exactly that.
