Barcelona stretched their unbeaten run in LaLiga to 14 games with a 1-0 victory over RCD Mallorca at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, strengthening their position at the top of the table.
They came into this match full of confidence after their thrilling 4-3 comeback win against Celta Vigo, where they scored three times in the final half-hour. That result put them five points clear at the top, and another win would increase their lead, although they’ve played one more match than some of their rivals. Mallorca, pushing for a European spot, showed strong defensive spirit in the first half and kept things level going into the break.
Barcelona, however, created plenty of chances. Manager Hansi Flick made changes to the side that faced Vigo, resting big names like Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha. Despite this, Barça looked dangerous, with Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, and Ansu Fati all going close but failing to score. Mallorca’s keeper Leo Román made several important saves, and José Copete even deflected a Gavi shot onto the post. Mallorca barely threatened but did have the ball in the net once – a goal from Mateo Jaume – only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Barcelona didn’t waste any time after the break. Less than a minute into the second half, Dani Olmo calmly slotted home the winner, scoring his ninth league goal in just 11 starts this season. Barça pushed to extend their lead, with Román again denying Fati and Yamal missing another effort. Mallorca reminded the home side to stay alert when Antonio Raíllo headed just wide, but they couldn’t build any real pressure.
In the end, Barcelona held on for a solid three points. Next, they’ll turn their focus to the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid on Saturday. As for Mallorca, they travel to Girona on Monday. Sitting seventh, they currently hold a UEFA Conference League spot but could drop to 11th depending on other weekend results.
