Barcelona won the La Liga title in the most dramatic of circumstances, beating Real Madrid 2-0 in El Clasico on Sunday night, while manager Hansi Flick learned of his father’s passing just hours before kick off.
Marcus Rashford got the party started after just nine minutes, curling a stunning free kick into the top corner to put Barca ahead. It was his 14th goal of the season. Ferran Torres made it two shortly after, finishing coolly after a clever flick from Dani Olmo to put the hosts firmly in control before the half hour mark.
Real Madrid had their chances, with Gonzalo Garcia hitting the side netting one on one, and Thibaut Courtois keeping the score respectable with a string of fine saves in the second half. Jude Bellingham thought he had pulled one back but was flagged offside.
It ended 2-0, and with that the Camp Nou erupted. Barcelona are now 14 points clear with three games to go, having won 11 league matches on the bounce and all 18 of their home games this season. It is back to back titles for Flick’s side, who could yet break the record for the biggest winning margin in LaLiga history.

For Real Madrid, it is a second trophyless season since 2009/10. A miserable night all round.
