Kalvin Phillips close to West Ham

Kalvin Phillips has not lived up to expectations since joining Manchester City from Leeds. Losing the trust of Pep Guardiola, a departure became inevitable. Numerous clubs entered the race for the English international, and it seems West Ham has emerged as the frontrunner.

The Hammers are in search of a suitable replacement for Declan Rice, who joined Arsenal this season.

Given his diminishing playing time at Manchester City, Phillips has become a logical solution. While predominantly a defensive midfielder, he is also capable of playing as a box-to-box midfielder.

Kalvin was on Juventus’s radar as well, as the Italian club seeks reinforcements in the midfield, especially with the ongoing situation involving Paul Pogba.

However, according to reports from The Athletic, Juventus may need to explore alternative options. Phillips has reportedly agreed to all terms with West Ham, and the finalization of the loan deal is pending an agreement between the two clubs.

As a reminder, Phillips rose to prominence with Leeds, making a significant impact when the club returned to the Premier League.
