UEFA and the leaders of Juventus have reached an agreement that the Italian club will not play in European competitions next season, the daily “Corriere dello Sport” reported.
The Italian daily claims that Juve requested, and UEFA accepted, that the club be kicked out of the Conference League next season.
From Turin, they asked to be punished now so that they would have no problems playing in the Champions League in the 2024/25 season, provided that they are among the four first-placed clubs in Serie A.
UEFA was considering a penalty for Juventus for violating financial fair play, and in Turin they feared that it could be severe, so they settled and avoided heavier sanctions.
Juventus, the text adds, will replace Fiorentina in the Conference League, which finished in eighth place in Serie A last season, and recently played in the final of that competition in which it was defeated by West Ham.
