Negotiations have begun between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid for a potential deal involving Joao Felix, following the failed transfer of Sami Omorodion to Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.

Omorodion was expected to complete his £34.5m move on a seven-year contract with an option for an additional year, but talks hit a snag and both sides have been unable to reach a resolution. Atletico were hoping to offload Omorodion in order to balance their deals for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez, but are now looking to revive discussions for Felix, who was previously on loan at Chelsea and also a target for Aston Villa.
The Portuguese forward scored four goals in 20 games for Chelsea and spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where he netted ten times in 44 appearances. Talks for Felix have been reignited as Atletico need to make sales.
