England striker Ivan Toney has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault following an alleged incident at a nightclub in central London.
The 30-year-old appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where he was accused of assaulting security guard Saber Da Silva at the 100 Wardour Street club in Soho last December.
Toney is accused of headbutting and punching Da Silva during a confrontation at the nightclub.
The Al Ahli forward elected to have the case heard at Crown Court, where he will face a judge and jury.
Toney was released on unconditional bail and is due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on October 29.
A spokesperson for Toney said he is “naturally shocked” by the charge and that he looks forward to having the opportunity to clear his name in court.

Toney has won 10 England caps and scored one goal. He was part of England’s 2026 World Cup squad but was not included in the latest Nations League squad.
