UEFA Champions League roundup, Rangers with last gasp draw whilst Fenerbache suffer stoppage time loss against Lille

Cyriel Dessers was the last-gasp hero for Rangers, scoring an equaliser right at the death as Philippe Clement’s side drew 1-1 with Dynamo Kyiv in the first leg their UEFA Champions League qualifier. Former West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko had put the Ukrainians in front, but Dessers popped up in stoppage time to slam home the leveller and take the tie back to Ibrox dead level.

Elsewhere, Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce were beaten 2-1 by Lille at the Stade du Hainaut.

Jayden Oosterwolde’s own goal on 12 minutes put the home side in front, but Turkish winger Irfan Kahveci hauled Fener level with just over 10 minutes to go.

The travelling fans would have been delighted with Kahveci’s impact, as he had only been on the pitch for nine minutes having replaced new loanee Allan Saint-Maximin.

However, Edon Zhegrova trumped Kahveci’s exploits as top super-sub in this particular encounter, as he rose off the bench to strike in injury time to eke the French side’s noses in front at the halfway stage of the tie.

Meanwhile, RB Salzburg swept FC Twente aside 2-1 in Austria as Maurits Kjaergaard netted a brace, while Sparta Prague and FCSB played out a 1-1 draw.

There was more late drama in Azerbaijan as Caio Vidal scored an 87th-minute winner but was then sent off for a second yellow two minutes later as Ludogorets edged past Qarabag, and Midtjylland beat Hungarian side Ferencvaros 2-0.

There were notable goalscorers in the 2-2 draw between Malmo and PAOK, as former Leeds United and Brentford centre-back Pontus Jansson scored for the Swedes, before ex-Shakhtar Donetsk winger Taison levelled for the Greek side.

Sebastian Nanasi re-established Malmo’s lead on 67 minutes, but Baba Rahman, the former Chelsea left-back, equalised with 15 minutes to play.
