Manchester City midfielder Elliot Anderson says he never came close to joining Manchester United despite attempts to persuade him to move to Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old completed a £116m move from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City in June, at the time making him the most expensive British footballer.
Anderson revealed that Manchester United players had spoken to him about a possible move while he was on holiday, but said his mind was not influenced by their approaches.
Instead, the England midfielder opted for City as he looked to take the next step in his career following his impressive performances for Forest.
His move was one of the biggest transfers of the summer and underlined City’s determination to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.
Anderson will now look to establish himself in the City side and justify the significant investment made to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.
