Apollon Ladies, one of the top teams in Cyprus, have signed Maltese international Maya Lucia on a one-year deal for the 2025/2026 season. .
The 22-year-old defender brings valuable international experience to the squad. She spent last season playing in Poland’s top division with Gdansk and has also played in Italy with Genoa, as well as in Croatia with Split and Osijek.
Lucia is no stranger to top-level competition. She has been a key part of the Malta women’s national team and played an important role in helping the side achieve promotion to League B of the UEFA Women’s Nations League.
She follows in the footsteps of Rachel Cuschieri, who became the first Maltese woman to play professionally abroad when she joined Apollon back in 2014. Cuschieri currently plays in Italy’s Serie A with Genoa Women.

Starting her football journey with Raiders in Malta, Lucia has steadily developed her career both locally and across Europe. Her move to Apollon is another step forward as she continues to grow on the international stage.
Apollon made a strong start to their campaign last weekend with a 4-0 win over Olympiakos Nicosia
