The second and final round of voting opens today to determine the winners of the 15th Globe Soccer Awards, which will be presented on December 27 in Dubai.
The first round, the organization informs, ended with over 70 million votes from fans, equal to the cumulative total of the two phases of last year, determining the list of finalists in the 12 main categories of the award.
The list confirms the quality of the Italian technical school with Ancelotti, Inzaghi and Gasperini; Lautaro, Lookman, Dovbyk, Chalanoglu and the Italian midfielder Barella were also confirmed in their respective categories; Inter and Atalanta are also in the final for the Best Men’s Club.
In particular, the most anticipated list, that of Best Men’s Player, sees among the finalists Haaland and Rodri of Manchester City, with the Real trio Mbappé, Vinicius and Bellingham, the legendary duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, but also the two stars of Inter and Atalanta, Lautaro Martinez and Lookman.
Haaland and Lautaro remain in the running among the 10 finalists for the Best Forward category, along with Dovbyk, Foden, Salah, and Kane. Competing for the Best Midfielder award will be, among others, the aforementioned Bellingham, with Rodri, Barella, Chalanoglu, Palmer and Xhaka.
There are 12 players still in the running for the Best Women’s Player: among them the Spanish duo of World Cup winners Bonmati and Paralluelo, and the Barcelona midfielder Graham Hansen.
Bayer Leverkusen and Real are among the teams still in the running for the Best Men’s Club, along with Manchester City, Inter and Atalanta. Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Lyon are the finalists for the Best Women’s Club. The list for the Best Coach includes, in addition to the Italians, four other big names in world football: Xabi Alonso, Arteta, de la Fuente and Guardiola.
Fans around the world still have until December 10 to cast their votes at vote.globesoccer.com with the final winners to be determined by a combination of fan votes and the Globe Soccer jury’s picks. Organised in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council, the 19th Dubai International Sports Conference and Globe Soccer Dubai Awards 2024 will be held at the Atlantis hotel, The Palm.
