Aaron Boupendza, a 28-year-old Gabon international and striker for Chinese side Zhejiang, has died after falling from the 11th floor of a building in China, the Gabonese Football Federation have announced.
Boupendza was currently playing for Chinese club Zhejiang, having joined earlier this year following a short stint with Romania’s Rapid Bucharest. His death was confirmed by the Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) on Wednesday.
“Aaron Boupendza, aged 28, will be remembered as a talented striker who made a strong impact at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon,” the federation said in an official statement.
Having started his career with CF Mounana in Gabon and later developing through the ranks at Bordeaux in France, Boupendza had recently continued his career in China after a brief spell in Romanian football.
