The wife and two children of Argentine footballer Lucas Trejo have been found dead after a three-day search following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela.
Trejo, who plays for Club Sport Marítimo de La Guaira, had been desperately searching for his family after the powerful earthquakes caused widespread destruction in the coastal city of La Guaira. Their bodies were recovered around 70 hours after the disaster struck.
His club confirmed the tragic news in a statement, offering its condolences and asking for privacy for the player and his family during an unimaginably difficult time. Fellow footballers and supporters have also expressed their sympathy as tributes continue to pour in.
The tragedy comes as Venezuela continues to deal with the aftermath of the twin earthquakes, with rescue efforts still under way and thousands of people affected.
