Hibernians, Swieqi fire blanks as Birkirkara, Mgarr win in Women's League.

The Assikura Women’s League returned following Malta’s success in the UEFA Women’s Nations League with a top of the table clash between Hibernians and Swieqi United.

The two teams which are separated by just a couple of points cancelled each other out in a lacklustre match in Saturday’s early kick-off.

The goalless stalemate kept Hibernians on top with 26 points while it allowed Birkirkara to pip Swieqi to second place as they trail the Paolites just by a single point ahead of next weekend’s direct clash.

The Stripes hit San Ġwann for five with Veronique Mifsud and Raina Giusti scoring twice in the first half.

After the change of ends, forward Francesca Chircop grabbed a brace before Giusti added another one to wrap up the victory.

Meanwhile, Mġarr United secured a comfortable win while Valletta added another victory in their debut season.

After Brenda Borg and Anastasia Sivolobova, who played for Moldova against Malta last week, scored twice in the first half, Mġarr added another six to secure a big win over Mtarfa – who remain without points after ten outings.

Joelma scored four to move top of the league’s scoring charts with 14 goals – joint-level with Swieqi’s Salamatu Abdulai while Borg added two to her name as well.

In the other match, Anna Aloisio and Megan La Rosa grabbed a goal each as Valletta scored their fifth win of the season.
