Former Chelsea and Newcastle player Christian Atsu has been found dead after several days of searching for him following the earthquake, according to Turkish media.
This news was first announced by his manager Murat Uzunmehmet, who announced on Twitter that the footballer from Ghana had been found and was dead.
– Christian Atsu was found, but unfortunately, he passed away – Murat’s message reads, while he also gave an official statement to the “Demiroren” news agency:
– Atsu’s lifeless body was found under the rubble. His belongings are currently being removed, and his phone has been found.
At one point, news arrived from Turkey that he had been found, only to be quickly denied. Let’s remind you, there was even a video of the rescue of the unfortunate football player. As the days passed, the hope of finding him became less and less. Mostly because 13 days have passed since the terrible accident.
The assumption was that he returned home that fateful night around 3:30, which is approximately the time when the first earthquake occurred. When the second earthquake followed and the building began to collapse, it is believed that the football player went down to the parking lot to get to his car, and then he was buried there.
