POTTER FEELS THE GRAVITY OF THE BIG CLUB: We're not in the position we want to be in, we're frustrated

Chelsea manager Graham Potter, who admitted he had never been to a Champions League game before becoming manager of the London club, said he was disappointed with the point against Salzburg but praised the effort of his players.

Chelsea played a 1:1 draw against Salzburg last night at Stamford Bridge and after two rounds in Group E they have only one point, after losing in the first round against Dinamo Zagreb (0:1). Milan has four points, Dinamo three, and Salzburg two points.

Potter recently replaced Thomas Tuchel on the bench, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in the 2020/2021 season.

  • We are frustrated because of only one point, but the players gave their best and I am proud of how they played. It wasn’t easy for them either, the change of coach and everything that goes with that, but their response was brilliant. They behaved very well, they were professional, responsible, the effort was 100 percent – said Potter, BBC reported.

Chelsea had a bad start to the season, with only three wins in eight games and the team must improve their results.

  • We cannot lie, we are not in the position we want to be. This will be a difficult group, but the team has enough quality to meet the challenges and we have to look forward to the next games – said Potter.

  • I understand the requirements of this football club, I believe in the environment and culture, but I also understand that we have to win. We are at the beginning of the process as a group of coaches and players. I want to create a competitive team that the fans are proud of – added the coach of the London team.
