The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri, inaugurated the new Qala Saints sports facility with an investment of more than €400,000.
Minister Camilleri stressed the government’s commitment to continue to fulfill its electoral sporting promises and this even in Gozo itself, where the investment in this field over the last few years has been unprecedented, including in improving the facilities.
During the inauguration of this sports facility, Minister Camilleri said that this project will lead to the children of this locality being able to train safely and in a beautiful environment while the the Qala Saints team, like other teams in Gozo, now has a worthy place to operate and a facility suitable for today’s times.
“We continued to invest in our athletes and young people because we believe in their potential and they put this potential into practice whenever they were given the opportunity both in Malta and in the international sphere. In fact, at the moment, around 50 Gozitan athletes are benefiting from the Gozitan Sportsperson Assistance Scheme, a scheme intended to alleviate some of the costs related to training, for those athletes who train in Malta,” the Minister said .
Minister Camilleri thanked the Minister for Education and Sports, Clifton Grima, for the assistance given so that this project could be carried out and wished the Qala Saints team every success.
The Mayor of Qala, Paul Buttigieg, stressed that through the intervention of the Government this project will be carried out. He said that this facility will be an important tool for the Qala Saints team and for the children and teenagers who attend and train with the local nursery.
The President of Qala Saints, Noel Mizzi said that the dream of every football fan in Qala has now come true. He thanked all the entities that worked and pulled together to make this project happen.
