The third participant in the Round of 16 of the World Cup is the current champion, France.
The “Tricolors” outplayed and convincingly defeated Poland tonight, 3:1!
France will continue its journey toward defending the title with a quarterfinal match against England or Senegal.
It was played well from the start of the game, and after a couple of half-chances on both sides, one excellent one was seen in front of Lloris and Szczesny’s goal.
First, France was close to a goal when Giroud reacted badly, and at the end of the first half, after Kaminski’s shot, Varane kicked the ball off the goal line.
The penalty for that mistake came in the 44th minute. Mbappe did an excellent job with Giroud, and the Milan striker routinely scored the 52nd goal for the national team, which left him alone at the top of the eternal list of goal scorers for his national team.
The Poles were completely harmless in the second half.
France controlled the events on the field and practically it was only a matter of time before the “tricolors” broke the match.
It happened at the end of the 74th minute when Mbappe made a great shot!
It didn’t end there either, as the champion continued to “stomp” on his rival, and Mbappe scored a great goal in the 91st minute, his ninth at the World Cup, to make it 3:0.
When everything was already settled, Poland was awarded a penalty, which was scored by Robert Lewandowski in the 99th minute.
