The 23-year-old talent joins last season’s FA Trophy winners in push for European football return.
Floriana FC have made a major signing with the acquisition of 23-year-old Norwegian attacking midfielder Sindre Osestad. This transfer marks Osestad’s first experience playing outside of Norway, where he has previously played for clubs including Giv Akt, IK Start Kristiansand, Fram Larvik, and Grorud IL. The young talent was scouted by Floriana and is seen as a player with a bright future ahead of him.
Osestad’s transfer was facilitated by Ton Caanen, a prominent figure in Maltese football and representative of CAAA Base Ltd, one of the world’s largest football agencies. Caanen was previously in charge of Valletta FC, where he led the team to a Premier League title.
Osestad is expected to make his debut for Floriana next weekend in a highly-anticipated match against rivals Valletta FC. The young attacking midfielder’s addition to the team is expected to bring a new level of skill and energy to Floriana’s midfield, as they look to continue their push for a top-four finish that would secure their return to European football.
This signing is unlikely to be the last for Floriana this month, as the club is also reported to be in talks to sign Ivory Coast forward Thomas Toure. Toure, who also holds French citizenship, has been training with the club for the past week and is expected to be offered a contract until the end of the season.
Additionally, Floriana is said to be working on two other acquisitions in the attacking department, as they strive to strengthen their squad and improve their chances of a top-four finish.
Last weekend, Floriana’s quest for a top-four finish suffered a setback when they were defeated by Birkirkara 2-1, leaving the team in seventh place on 25 points, five behind fourth-placed Hibernians.
However, with the addition of Osestad and the potential signing of Toure, Floriana FC are looking to make a strong comeback and secure a spot in European football.
