FIFA opens volunteer applications for Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027

More than 6,000 volunteers will be recruited across eight Brazilian host cities for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, with applications now officially open.

FIFA has officially launched the volunteer application process for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027, inviting people from Brazil and around the world to play a key role in delivering the biggest women’s sporting event on the planet.

More than 100,000 people have already registered their interest since the initial registration process opened in July. FIFA has now confirmed that interested candidates can submit their official applications through the FIFA Volunteer Community.

A total of more than 6,000 volunteers will be recruited to support the tournament across the eight host cities of Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo.

Volunteers will work across more than 20 functional areas, including media, technology, transport, competition management and ceremonies. More than 30 different roles will be available at competition and non-competition venues, ranging from stadiums and training sites to airports and hotels.

Thousands set to be part of Brazil 2027

FIFA Chief Football Officer Jill Ellis highlighted the importance of volunteers to the success of its tournaments.

“Volunteers embody the spirit of every FIFA tournament, sharing their enthusiasm, dedication and love of the game with millions of people around the world.”

Ellis said Brazil 2027 would provide volunteers with the opportunity to meet people from different cultures, gain new experiences and contribute to an event expected to leave a lasting impact on host communities.

While more than 100,000 people have registered an interest in volunteering, FIFA stressed that the initial registration does not constitute an official application.

Prospective volunteers must now join or log in to the FIFA Volunteer Community, select the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 and complete the application form together with a short online assessment.

Applications will only remain open for a limited period, with FIFA encouraging interested candidates to apply as early as possible.

Who can apply?

Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application and must either be Brazilian nationals or legally permitted to enter Brazil during the tournament.

They must also be available to complete between seven and 10 shifts during the tournament’s operational period in June and July 2027.

Previous volunteering experience is not required, but candidates must have knowledge of Portuguese or English. Additional languages will be considered an advantage.

Selected volunteers will receive training before the tournament and will be supported by experienced personnel throughout their assignments.

Although the roles are unpaid, FIFA volunteers will receive meals during their shifts, a full adidas uniform and transport solutions within their host city, alongside other recognition initiatives and tokens of appreciation.

A proud tradition in Brazil

Brazil already has a strong history of volunteer involvement at FIFA tournaments.

During the 2014 FIFA World Cup, more than 13,000 volunteers helped deliver the tournament across 12 host cities.

Their contribution played an important role in showcasing Brazil’s hospitality to fans, teams and visitors from around the world.

Now, more than a decade later, thousands more volunteers will have the opportunity to become part of Brazilian football history when the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 gets underway.
