Less than six months after being diagnosed with testicular cancer, Borussia Dortmund’s Sebastian Haller returned to the field today in a friendly match.

Dortmund beat Fortuna Dusseldorf 5:1 today in a friendly match in preparation in Spain, and Ale entered the game in the 74th minute.

Haller underwent two surgeries and four cycles of chemotherapy before returning to the field. He was diagnosed in July, two weeks after joining Dortmund from Ajax and before playing a game for the club.

He was the top scorer in the Dutch league last season with 21 goals in the Ajax jersey.

Without him, Dortmund has struggled in the Bundesliga and sits sixth in the table, nine points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Dortmund will play the first game in the continuation of the championship on January 22 at home against Augsburg.

In the round of 16 of the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund will play against Chelsea, and the first match will be played on February 15 in Germany.
