Premier League explains VAR decision in Forest-Spurs draw

The Premier League has explained why Nottingham Forest’s goal was disallowed during their 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the City Ground on Saturday.

Neco Williams thought he had put Forest ahead in the 67th minute, but VAR reviewed the incident and determined that the ball had touched his hand immediately before he scored.

Referee Craig Pawson then announced:

“After review, the ball touches the hand of Nottingham Forest No.3 before the goal is scored. The final decision is a direct free-kick for Spurs.”

The decision meant the match finished goalless, with both clubs still searching for their first Premier League win of the season.
