Brentford are close to signing Jordan Henderson, the former Liverpool and Ajax captain.
The 35-year-old is a free agent after leaving Ajax last month and is reportedly agreeing a two-year deal with the Premier League club.
Henderson is said to have received interest from other teams across Europe, but he prefers a return to the Premier League. He hopes playing regularly in England will keep him in the plans of England manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Tuchel brought Henderson back into the national team near the end of last season.
Henderson began his career at Sunderland, moved to Liverpool, and later joined Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia. After that, he signed for Ajax 18 months ago and was made club captain. He left Ajax by mutual agreement with a year left on his contract.
His arrival at Brentford comes as the club looks to replace Christian Nørgaard, who has joined Arsenal
