Bournemouth edge past Fulham to end losing streak

AFC Bournemouth held off a late push from Fulham to earn a 1-0 win at the Vitality Stadium, ending a run of four straight Premier League losses and moving above their opponents in the race for European spots.

The home fans haven’t had much to cheer about in 2025, but they had something to celebrate early on. With less than a minute played, Antonee Robinson failed to stop a Bournemouth counter-attack, allowing Antoine Semenyo to burst into the box and fire a low shot into the bottom corner.

Soon after, Bournemouth nearly doubled their lead. Milos Kerkez crossed to Alex Scott, who nodded the ball across goal to Evanilson, but the Brazilian’s shot hit the crossbar from close range. It was the 21st time this season Bournemouth hit the woodwork – more than any other team in the Premier League.

Fulham slowly grew into the game. Rodrigo Muniz had a couple of half-chances before Ryan Sessegnon missed a great opportunity, heading straight at Kepa Arrizabalaga after being set up by Alex Iwobi.

Right before half-time, Fulham keeper Bernd Leno made a fine fingertip save from Alex Scott, and early in the second half he denied Tyler Adams from close range. The game slowed down after that, but Fulham looked dangerous as the half went on. Although a mix-up saw Sessegnon taken off by mistake, substitutes Adama Traoré and Raúl Jiménez gave the visitors new energy.

Kepa had to be alert, saving efforts from Iwobi, Saša Lukić, and Tom Cairney to keep Bournemouth in front.

In the end, Bournemouth held firm to claim a much-needed win, climbing to eighth in the table and putting Fulham back in their place. For Marco Silva, it was another frustrating night, as his team’s up-and-down form continues – they’ve now alternated between wins and losses for eight matches in a row.
