The English national team was defeated by Italy at the San Siro last night and thus dropped to the bottom of the UEFA Nations League. However, coach Gareth Southgate still thinks that this is a step forward before the World Cup in Qatar.
– It is difficult to be too critical after a game in which we had more possessions, more shots, and shots on goal. Personally, I think this is a step in the right direction, but I understand that the reaction due to the end result will be extreme – said Southgate.
