Former Brazil international Casemiro insists his hunger for success remains as strong as ever after beginning a new chapter of his career with Inter Miami.
The 34-year-old midfielder was officially unveiled by the Major League Soccer club on Thursday after joining as a free agent on a contract running until the end of the 2027 MLS season, with an option to extend until June 2029.
Speaking at his presentation, Casemiro thanked the club’s ownership, including managing owner Jorge Mas and co-owner David Beckham, while admitting he was honoured to play alongside Lionel Messi, whom he described as “the best in history”.
“My intention to be the best and to win has not gone away,” Casemiro said. “In football, we do not know if we will win or lose, but my dedication and work will remain the same.”
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United midfielder revealed that Inter Miami had always been his preferred destination, adding that both he and his family were excited about beginning a new life in Florida.
“My family and I knew that I wanted to play for Inter Miami. We know the city and the country, and we love this place,” he said.
Casemiro, who won five UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid before lifting both the League Cup and FA Cup during his time at Manchester United, also featured for Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Inter Miami managing owner Jorge Mas defended the club’s handling of the transfer amid an ongoing MLS investigation into alleged tampering. Mas insisted the club followed the league’s discovery rights rules and only opened negotiations with Casemiro after reaching an agreement with LA Galaxy, who previously held the player’s MLS discovery rights.

“We did not talk to him beforehand,” Mas said. “We negotiated with LA Galaxy and reached an agreement.”
Major League Soccer confirmed that a settlement had been reached between Inter Miami and LA Galaxy regarding Casemiro’s discovery rights, although the terms will only be made public once the league’s investigation has concluded.
