Qormi FC were crowned BOV Amateur Cup winners after a commanding 4-0 victory over Victoria Hotspurs in a final that showcased the best of Maltese amateur football.
Both sides arrived at the final in fine form. Victoria Hotspurs had enjoyed a successful season that earned them promotion to the BOV Challenge League, while Qormi FC finished third in the league standings and impressed throughout the competition.
The opening half was closely contested, but it was Qormi who edged ahead when Emerson Vella broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, sending the sides into the interval with the score at 1-0.
Qormi came out for the second half with real purpose and effectively killed the game off within two minutes. Emmanuel David Garba struck twice in quick succession on 69 and 71 minutes to make it 3-0, before substitute Ayrton Azzopardi wrapped things up with a fourth goal in the 87th minute.
The trophy was presented by Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta, and Adrian Casha, Vice President of the Malta Football Association, who handed the cup to the Qormi FC captain amid joyful celebrations.
