Chelsea football club has announced that the team’s player Ben Chilwell will miss the upcoming World Cup in Qatar after examinations showed that he suffered a “serious” injury in the match against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
This 25-year-old English representative tore the anterior cruciate ligaments of his knee in November last year and was out of the field until May, and now he is waiting for another break.
- After that injury, I worked hard to be ready for the World Cup. It’s always been my dream. Unfortunately, this will not be possible after the scan results. I will do everything I can to play for Chelsea again as soon as possible – wrote Chilwell on social networks.
Chelsea announced that Chilwell had suffered a “serious” injury and would “begin a rehabilitation program with the club’s medical service”.
Chilwell has played 17 games in England’s jersey so far, he was part of the team at the last meeting in September, but he did not play.
England begins the World Cup with a game against Iran on November 21, with coach Gareth Southgate due to announce the squad for Qatar on Thursday.
In addition to Iran, England will also play the USA and Wales in Group B.
