Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel said that this season will be unsuccessful for the football club, even if the team wins the championship.
Ahead of the last round of the Bundesliga, Bayern must beat Cologne away on Saturday and hope that Borussia Dortmund do not beat Mainz at home if they are to win a 10th consecutive title.
Dortmund is first in the table with 70 points, and the Bavarians have two points less.
“It is our fault, our responsibility. Of course, we will try to stay in the race until the end, as we have the obligation to give our best until the very end,” Tuchel said.
Bayern could end the season without a trophy for the first time since 2012.
“This will not be a season we would be satisfied with. It is not a season in which, according to our requirements, a sufficient number of points were won, in which the quality of the game was satisfactory. Regardless of how it ends, this will not be a satisfying season,” said Tuchel.
He took over the team in March when Julian Nagelsmann was fired when Bayern lost first place in the table after losing to Bayer Leverkusen (1:2).
The team was eliminated from the German Cup and Champions League under Tuchel, with Bayern and Dortmund swapping top spot on three occasions before Borussia regained the top spot with the Bavarians’ 3-1 defeat at Leipzig last weekend.
“We messed up enough times,” said Tuchel.
All games of the last round in the Bundesliga will be played on Saturday at 15:30.
